Meet the Artist, Sue Fischer Hayes

I am a North Dakota native who has loved living in Montana with my husband for 21 years! I received a liberal arts degree from Concordia College, St. Paul, MN. I've been teaching myself the art of jewelry making for 17 years now.

I make each piece of jewelry myself. (I jokingly call any new piece of equipment my new employee.) Handcrafted from start to finish, every piece is created through many intricate steps and careful shaping.

Inventory for each show starts several months before. I enjoy variety so there will be many different styles of jewelry at any given show and on this web site. The switch between beads and the more labor intensive stone set pieces gives my fingers and my eyes a break! I enjoy working with both and especially love the need it fills for my customers.

When not working, I love flying down hills on my mountain bike, hiking trails, and reading non-fiction books. I have a great studio cat named Zorra who thinks I should be outside if she is outside. (Wouldn’t that be nice!)
